Welcome to version 10.8! As the last release of 2023, we’ve got some big news to share with you, including several new improvements to the platform. Let’s get started.
1. Important News
Following our company’s rebranding, we’re officially changing the product’s name from Kanbanize to Businessmap too. This decision comes as a logical next step due to the product’s evolution over the years. As our tool has grown into an end-to-end platform for enterprise agility, we had to properly reflect that in our name.
The only change you will currently see is the addition of our “Businessmap” logo at the top left corner in your account:
Note 1: Keep in mind that based on the size of your account, we will gradually replace the old Kanbanize logo with the new one.
Note 2: For the time being, your subdomains (e.g., yourcompany.kanbanize.com) will remain the same and WILL NOT be changed so that you can continue your operations without any hassle.
2. New SSO Service
Moving forward with the release, we’ve got some security updates to share with you. To give you more flexibility and ensure even safer operations, we’re releasing a new SSO service – OpenID Connect (OIDC), which comes as an addition to the SAML v2.0 authentication protocol.
OIDC is an extension of OAuth2 and provides another option for executing secure single sign-on operations. To learn more about the new service and how to configure it, check out our dedicated article.
3. Manage Outcome Rules Admin Privilege
To help you delegate responsibility within your organization, we’re releasing a new admin privilege to Manage Outcome rules. Similarly to the business rules, users with the privilege will have complete access to create and edit outcome rules without being an account owner.
4. New Emojis Library in Businessmap
Going forward, we’ve expanded the capability to use emojis in the software through a brand-new Emojis library. From now on, users will be able to create them everywhere in the software where there is a rich text editor. This includes the card’s details, subtasks, comments, rich text widgets on dashboards, etc.
5. Calculated Custom Field Improvements
To facilitate your work with the calculated custom fields, we’re introducing a few improvements.
- First, to save you time, you can now edit custom fields that are part of a given calculated custom field (CCF) formula directly by clicking on them. Note that this action is only applicable when editing fields through the card’s details.
- Second, in case a custom field (part of a CCF formula) is not part of the current card or board that you’re working on, you will see an exclamation mark inside the field informing you about the issue.
- Once you click on a field with an exclamation mark, the system will ask you if you want to add it to the card and/or board. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to add a field to the board if you don’t have sufficient privileges to manage custom fields.
6. Expansion of Planned Start/End Date Parameters
In this release, we’re introducing a couple of improvements regarding our planned start and end date parameters. Let’s take a look at them below.
6.1. Calculate the Planned Duration of Initiatives
To enable you to calculate the planned duration of an initiative, you can now use a card’s planned start or end dates as dynamic values when building date-related formulas. One common use case here is to create a formula that dynamically subtracts the planned start date from the planned end date of an initiative, so you can visualize its duration in a calculated custom field.
6.2. Planned Start/End Dates as Work Arrival/Departure Conditions
To help you better manage flow within your organization, we’re adding the planned start and end date parameters as conditions in the Arrival and Departure Rules.
From now on, you will be able to choose whether an initiative should have an exact, present or relative start/end date, so it enters/exists a given board or initiatives workflow area. Due to their nature, remember that those conditions will be applicable ONLY on a board level and initiatives from a portfolio workflow.
7. Planning view improvements
To enhance your experience with our brand-new planning view on portfolio initiatives, we’re releasing several improvements.
- First, we want to inform you that the Planning view is no longer in Beta!
- Second, we’ve added the “Adjust” option to the planning view so you can quickly revert to the Auto view.
- Third, we’ve improved the Zoom option with the CTRL/CMD key on your keyboard, which now has the same behavior as our Timeline workflow.
8. Filter SLEs on Boards
Moving on, the board filter will now include a new option that filters work with SLEs. With its help, you can choose to see ONLY cards on your boards where the SLE is/is not exceeded or present. Just like any of the other filter categories, you will be able to join the SLE condition with other options and create a quick filter of your choice.
9. Other Improvements
As always, version 10.8 brings you several other improvements, which we will present below.
- Visualize the total logged time
From now on, once you log time against a card or subtask, you will see an indicator showing you the total logged time for the card (including its subtasks).
- Initiatives & Outcomes improvements
Finally, we’re releasing a few improvements on the Initiatives & Outcomes dashboard:
- To help you better visualize the data you want, we’re releasing an option from the “Settings” menu to “Hide outcomes progress and outcomes projection”. This way, you can only focus on the work progress of your Initiatives/Objectives in the table part of the dashboard.
- To focus your attention only on the table part of the dashboard, we’re making it possible to slice your data by “None,” which will hide the graphics at the top of the dashboard.
- For quick access to an objective’s outcomes, even if you’ve chosen to hide them from the dashboard, we’ve added an additional icon that allows you to expand its outcomes and checkpoint details.
That’s all we’ve got in store for you in version 10.8! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our support team.
