1. Analyze the Status of your Initiatives & Outcomes
To help you gain an overview of the status of your initiatives, we’re releasing a brand-new report called “Initiatives and Outcomes”. Our aim is to give you a central place where you can easily inspect the progress of your initiatives, outcomes, and checkpoints so you can improve your decision-making based on the status of both your goals and work activities.
The report is available inside the “Reporting Facility”, and for the time being, it consists of a table view only. As usual, on the left-hand side of the report, you can choose to refine your analysis by different criteria such as “Board”, “Section”, etc.
Once you run the report, you will see data only for your initiatives, outcomes, and checkpoints distributed across a number of predefined columns.
Let’s have an overview of what each one of them represents. For the sake of the explanation, we will divide them into 3 groups:
A) General Information
- Item ID – The IDs of your initiative, outcome, or checkpoint. Note that the outcomes and checkpoints are represented as a combination of IDs.
- Name – The name of your initiative, outcome, or checkpoint.
- Parent IDs – The IDs of an initiative’s, outcome’s, or checkpoint’s parent.
- Type – An indication of whether an entry is an initiative, outcome, or checkpoint.
B) Progress & Projections
- Outcome Progress – The progress of an outcome based on your current and target values. For the checkpoints, the progress is defined as the outcome’s current value based on the checkpoint’s target value.
- Outcome Progress Expected – A linear calculation of an outcome’s expected progress based on your initiative’s start and end dates. Respectively, the % expected progress of a checkpoint is based on the actual progress of the outcome (or a previous checkpoint) toward the target date of the current checkpoint.
- Outcome Projection – A projection for the completion of an outcome based on the initiative’s target date. Respectively, the projection for the completion of a checkpoint is based on its target date
- Work Progress – The current work progress of an initiative based on its child cards.
- Work Progress Expected – A linear calculation of an initiative’s current expected progress based on its end date.
Note: The Outcome progress/expected/projection columns are not applicable to initiatives. Meanwhile, the work progress/expected columns are not applicable to outcomes and checkpoints.
B) Target Dates/Values & Children Work
- Target date – The end date of an initiative, outcome, or checkpoint
- Start/Target/Current - The respective values of an outcome or a checkpoint.
- Children total/finished/in progress/not started – A numeric overview of the state that a child card of an initiative is currently in.
Note: The start/target/current values are not applicable to initiatives, whereas all children-related columns are not applicable to outcomes and checkpoints.
- The Initiatives & Outcomes report consists of a lot of specifications, so make sure you check out our dedicated article to learn more.
2. New Admin Privileges
- Manage Roles – it allows you to access the “Roles” tab inside User Management in the Administration Panel, where you will be able to create/delete/modify roles.
- Manage Card Elements – users with this privilege will be able to create/delete/modify all card elements. They can add/remove card elements on all boards.
- Note: This privilege brings a slight modification to the "Card Controls" inside "Security & Audit", where you will notice the addition of “Admins” next to Account Owners. An Admin is a user who has the “Manage Card Elements” privilege but is not an Account Owner.

- Manage Security Settings & Access Audit Logs – it allows users to access the “Security & Audit” menu inside the Administration panel and gives them permission to export audit logs.
- Manage Dashboards – having this privilege makes it possible for users to add/remove users/teams as dashboard members and managers. They can also add/remove workspaces from a dashboard, edit and delete it as a dashboard member.
- Manage Logged Time – it allows you to log time, edit and delete logged time on cards to which a user has access. Having this privilege will also enable you to see logged time on cards via Advanced Search and Reports (even if you don’t have access to them).
3. Updates on Arrival/Departure Rules
In our previous release, we announced a Beta version of the new concept in the software called “Arrival and Departure Rules”. Based on feedback so far, we’ve applied some enhancements to the functionality, including:
- Once you set arrival/departure rules, they will be visible in your card details.
- You can disable/enable arrival/departure rules when editing them.
- For better visualization, an indication of present arrival/departure rules will appear on different areas of your board (ex. workflow, lane, column, cell).
We encourage you to keep testing the Arrival/Departure rules and get back to us with more feedback at support@businessmap.io.
4. Workflow Performance Summary Widget Improvements
To give you even more flexibility for analyzing data with the “Workflow Performance Summary” widget, we’re releasing 2 new improvements.
4.1 Select a Custom Date Range
First, as a period for data analysis, you will now be able to select a custom date range inside the widget’s settings. The comparison of the accumulated results will be with data from the previous period of the selected date range.
4.2. Custom Fields in Card Filters
Second, we’re making it possible to further refine your data with the help of custom fields as card filters.
5. Other Improvements
As usual, version 9.7 comes with several other improvements. Let’s take a look at them too.
- Board Filter Enhancement
To help you easily locate the cards you’ve filtered on a board, the system will give you a list of them once you click on the green indicator that appears in the header. For more convenience, you also get easy access to the cards you’ve recently selected.
- Copy/Clone Cards to Other Boards
Last but not least, you will now be able to copy/clone cards with their details to other boards across your account.
Happy Kanbanizing with version 9.7!
