AI teammates and the AI Hub (early access)
Meet AI teammates: AI coworkers you hire by simply describing the job in a chat. Each teammate gets a name, a face and its own instructions, tools, knowledge and schedule, and then gets to work on your cards and documents, in the background or in a conversation with you. A teammate can start work on a schedule, when a business rule fires, when you assign it a card or @mention it, or when an email arrives. It can research the web, write and run code to crunch numbers and draw charts, and email a report when it is done, always within the permissions you give it and with every step visible in its run timeline. Everything lives in the new AI Hub, opened from the Ask button in the header, which also gives every person their own personal AI assistant. Admins choose the models, can connect their own OpenAI, Microsoft Foundry or Anthropic account, and set credit limits per person. AI teammates are available in early access: click the Ask button and choose Request early access to get them for your account.
- The Ask button and the AI HUB button in the header open the AI Hub.
- Until your account has early access, a popup explains that AI teammates are in early access.
- Click Request early access to tell us about your scenario and get AI teammates for your account.
New analytics (Beta): clearer charts, the numbers you trust
Analytics gets a complete makeover. With the new release you are able to open New analytics (Beta) right on top of your board, in a modern window you can minimise, expand to full screen or close without losing your place. It shows all 16 charts you already know, from Cycle Time Scatterplot and Cumulative Flow to Aging WIP and Monte Carlo forecasts, with exactly the same numbers, controls and settings, now in a cleaner, calmer design. Every new calculation was checked against the classic analytics in more than 120,000 automated comparisons, so you can switch with confidence.
- The charts are grouped by the question you want answered, such as What needs attention now?, How long does work take? and When will it be done?
- A short plain-language insight sums up what the numbers mean, here followed by the Dashboard's key figures for cycle time, WIP, stability and Monte Carlo forecasts.
- The red badge next to Aging WIP flags how many cards in progress are aging beyond your usual pace.
- The Example Data chip shows you are exploring the sample board rather than your own data.
Finding the right chart is easier than ever: the charts are grouped by the question you are trying to answer, such as What needs attention now?, How long does work take? or When will it be done?, and a short plain-language insight above each chart tells you what it shows at a glance. A new Dashboard brings the key figures together, a red badge flags in-progress work that is aging beyond your usual pace, and each chart keeps its settings in a tidy Controls for this Chart panel. Export any chart as an image or CSV, zoom in live, and work fully with the keyboard.
To try it, click the Show analytics button (chart icon) in your board header and choose New analytics, marked Beta. The classic analytics stays one click away under Legacy analytics, and your saved settings work in both. Want to explore before using your own data? Choose Use Example Data to load a realistic sample board in a single click.
- Click the Show analytics button (chart icon) in the board header to open the analytics menu.
- Choose New analytics (marked Beta) to open the new analytics right on top of your board; Legacy analytics just above it opens the classic charts.
Filter cards in Canvas and Whiteboards
Big whiteboards are where planning happens, and they can quickly fill up with hundreds of cards from many boards, surrounded by notes, shapes and frames. With the new release you are able to filter any whiteboard in Canvas mode, just like you filter a board, but redesigned for the canvas. Find cards by owner, board and lane, stage, tags, priority, due date, links, custom fields and more, or simply type any text. The matching cards stay bright while everything else fades into the background, so the answer to “where are my blocked cards?” or “what is overdue here?” jumps right out at you.
- The Filter button in the top menu sums up the active filter and how many cards match in the current view. Click × to clear it.
- Type anything into the search field, such as a person, tag, board, status, date or text. The count next to it shows how many cards in view match.
- Active conditions show as chips. Click a chip to edit it or × to remove it, add a quick filter (Blocked, Overdue, At risk or off track), or use Clear all to start over.
- Pick a property on the left, then tick its values on the right. Each value shows how many cards in view have it.
Open the filter with the new Filter button in the top menu, press Ctrl + F (Cmd + F on Mac), or right-click any card and choose Filter by to filter by one of its values in a single click. Type what you are looking for and pick from the suggestions, or use the quick filters Mine, Blocked, Overdue and At risk or off track. Every value shows how many cards in view would match. Conditions on different properties combine with AND, several values of the same property with OR, and power users will love shortcuts such as “-test” to exclude cards or “cycle > 30” to set a range right from the search field.
- Filter by appears in the context menu of every card.
- The submenu lists that card's own values: owner, board, lane, stage, column, tags, priority and color.
- Link types such as Parents filter the whiteboard down to the card's linked cards.
The filter also helps you navigate. With Keep matches in view turned on, the view moves to show all matching cards, even those far away on the canvas. Filter by Links to see a card’s children, parents, predecessors or successors across every level. Running a workshop? Everyone who follows you sees your filter too, so the whole room looks at the same cards. Your filter is remembered when you come back to the whiteboard.
Meet Flow: a fresh new look for Businessmap
Businessmap now supports skins, complete visual styles for the whole application, and the first new one is Flow: a cleaner, more modern look with softer colours, lighter borders, more compact controls and a calmer layout that is easier on the eyes. Columns become soft grey lanes that make your white cards stand out, cards lose their borders in favour of gentle shadows and rounded corners, and on boards with a background picture the picture stays visible behind the headers. To switch, open My Account, choose Flow under Skin, click Save and close the dialog. Your choice follows you on every device, works with Dark mode and the colour-blind safe palette, and never changes what your colleagues see, and you can go back to Classic at any time.
- Under Skin, pick Flow for the new look, or Classic to keep the familiar one.
- Click Save and close My Account to switch the whole application to your new skin.
- Columns become soft grey lanes, so your white cards stand out.
- Cards drop their borders in favour of gentle shadows and rounded corners.
Connect your own apps to Businessmap with OAuth
Your in-house tools no longer need to borrow one person’s API key. With the new release, admins can register the company’s own applications, such as a reporting portal, an internal tool or an n8n, Make or Power Automate flow, as OAuth apps in Administration › Integrations › OAuth Apps. Each person then signs in through the app with their own Businessmap account and clicks Allow, so the app always works with that person’s permissions, and nothing breaks when a colleague leaves or changes their key. Admins can see who is connected, rotate the client secret without downtime (the previous secret keeps working for 24 hours) and disconnect people at any time, while every user can review and disconnect their apps in My Account › API › Connected OAuth apps.
- Settings for your app gives you the Authorization URL and Token URL to enter in your app, each with a copy button.
- Create app registers a new app with its name and redirect addresses, and shows its client ID and client secret.
- Each app card shows the client ID, Connected users, Last used and who created it; after you generate a new secret, the previous one keeps working for 24 hours.
- The ⋮ menu lets you Edit the app, View connected users, Generate new secret, Disconnect all users or Delete it.
Form Builder: table view, filters and board-aware AI forms
The Form Builder app makes request intake faster on both sides. Submitters can now switch the Submit a request list from the picture grid to a compact, sortable Table and narrow it down by Workspace and Board, so the right form is always a few clicks away. Form designers get a smarter Design with AI: type @ to mention a board, and the AI designs the form against that board’s real custom fields, lanes and columns, maps every field automatically and pre-fills where new cards will land, so most forms are ready to use without any manual mapping.
- Pick a workspace to see only the forms that create cards there.
- Narrow the list further to the forms of one board.
- Switch between the picture Grid and the compact Table.
- Click a column header to sort the table by Form Title, Description, Workspace or Board.
- Type @ and pick a board to tell the AI where the form creates cards.
- The AI then designs the form against that board's fields, lanes and columns.
Other updates
AI credits
All Businessmap AI features now run on AI credits, one simple balance for the AI chat, the AI assistant, board AI tools, AI teammates and knowledge bases. Every account gets a free monthly allowance (600 credits on trial, and 40 credits per licensed user with a minimum of 600 on paid plans), renewed on the first day of each month. When your team needs more, account owners can now buy extra credits as an add-on in the Payment Panel, in packs of 10K credits per month or 120K per year with an annual prepaid subscription, and purchased credits you don’t use carry over to the next period. To see exactly where your credits go, open Administration › AI Settings › Usage for a daily breakdown by feature.
Choose who can use MCP, separately from API access
You can now decide who connects AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code to Businessmap through MCP, without changing who can use the Businessmap API. The new Who can use MCP option in Administration › AI Settings › MCP lets you choose Everyone, Owners or Specific users, and changes apply right away. Nothing changes on the day of the update: the new setting starts with the same value as your current “API and mobile app access” setting, and from then on you can manage the two separately.
- Open AI Settings › MCP in Administration to manage how AI apps connect to your account.
- Enable MCP turns MCP on or off for the whole account.
- Who can use MCP lets you pick Everyone, Owners or Specific users, separately from API access.
- With Specific users, pick exactly who may use MCP; changes apply right away.
Archive or discard many cards at once from search
Cleaning up old work is now a matter of a few clicks, even when the cards are spread across boards and workspaces. In the Advanced Search table view, select the cards you want (or up to 500 at once with Select all), click the new bulk actions button, labelled with your selection (for example 5 items selected), and choose Archive cards or Discard cards. Before anything happens, you see which cards will be skipped and why, and you can unblock blocked cards and include them in the same action, or archive everything to a version.
- Hold Ctrl/Cmd and click the rows you want; the selected cards are highlighted, even when they come from different boards.
- The bulk actions button shows how many cards you have selected, here 5 items selected.
- Choose Archive cards or Discard cards to process all selected cards in one go.
Filter the board by cycle time
Spot the work that is dragging on without leaving your board. The board filter has a new Cycle time criterion, so you can show, for example, only the cards that have spent more than 5 days in your process. Enter the value in days (decimals work too), choose greater than, less than, is equal to or is not equal to, and combine it with your other criteria or save it as a quick filter.
- The Cycle time criterion: choose an operator such as greater than and enter the value in day(s).
- Only the cards with a cycle time above 5 days stay on the board.
- The result counter shows how many cards match the filter.
Create a card straight from the dashboard
Capture an idea the moment it comes up, without opening a board first. The dashboard has a new New Card button in the My workspaces header: pick a board (with a quick search and a favorites filter), choose the position on the board’s minimap, and the familiar new card window opens, ready to fill in.
- Click New Card in the My workspaces header to start a card without opening a board.
- Type in the Filter box to find a board quickly.
- Click the heart to show only your favorite boards.
- Pick a board, then choose the card's position on the board's minimap.
Full-screen mode for Docs
Long documents and wide tables finally get the room they deserve. Click the new Full screen button in the document header to let Docs fill your whole browser window and remove the width limit of the text column. It works in the main Docs window, in the revisions view and in documents opened from a card, and the left panel header now stays pinned, so the filter is always within reach while you scroll.
- Click Exit full screen to go back to the normal Docs window. At normal size, the same button reads Full screen.
- Wide content, such as this six-column table, now uses the full width of the window.
- The header of the left panel, with the Docs title, its actions and the Filter field, stays pinned while you scroll through a long list of docs.
Set up card elements, members and settings while creating a workspace or board
New workspaces and boards no longer start empty. The creation dialogs now include Data fields, Card elements, Members and Board settings sections, where you can add existing custom fields, stickers, block reasons, tags, card types, card templates, milestones, users and teams, and set the default template, card size type and limits. Your new board is created fully configured in one step, instead of a tour through many separate management screens.
- Card elements shows how many elements the new board will get in total.
- Click Manage on a row, such as Stickers, to pick existing elements; the counter shows how many are added.
- Members shows how many users and teams get access to the new workspace and board.
- Click Manage next to Board users to add people and choose their roles.
Multiple values for dropdown data fields
A board or workspace often belongs to more than one category, and now your data fields can say so. Every dropdown data field can hold up to 10 values for the same board or workspace, shown as chips you can drag to reorder. In My workspaces, the data fields filter matches boards and workspaces by is any of or is not any of several values, so your filtering and reporting stay accurate.
- Each selected value appears as a chip; drag the chips to change their order.
- Click the ✕ on a chip to remove that value.
- Open the list to add more values, up to 10 per board or workspace.
Sorting in the Initiatives & Outcomes widget
Put the initiatives that need attention first. Every column of the Initiatives and Outcomes widget can now be sorted, and each level of the hierarchy is sorted on its own, so children always stay with their parents. Sorting is smart, too: “Milestone 2” comes before “Milestone 10”, sections follow your workflow order, outcomes are sorted by status, and empty values always go last.
- Click the sort button in a column header to sort the current level: first ascending, then descending, then back to the original order.
- Hover over an initiative with children and click its sort button to sort only its child initiatives.
- Pick the column to sort the children by, or choose Clear sorting.
- Click the arrow next to the row to switch the direction of the child sort.
Planning view improvements
The Planning view gets three handy upgrades. When you show the hierarchy by Parent, sorting now reorders the parent rows and keeps each parent’s children in place. Three new optional table columns, Section, Column and Swimlane, show where every card is in your process at a glance. And the progress percentage on initiative bars is now always visible, including 0%, and updates live as child cards move, with no reload needed.
- Click a column header to sort. With Show hierarchy by: Parent, only the parent rows are reordered.
- Turn on the new Section, Column and Swimlane columns in Settings › Table columns to see where each initiative is in your process.
- The children stay under their parent in their original order.
- The progress percentage on each initiative bar is always shown, including 0%, and updates live as child cards move.
User attributes in Arrival/Departure rules
Arrival and Departure rules can now check a user attribute, such as Department or Region, of the person who moves the card. For example, only users whose Department is “Finance” can move cards into an approval column. Because the rule follows each user’s data, including values that come from your identity provider, you no longer have to update lists of named users in every rule when people join, leave or go on holiday.
- Pick User attribute: Department (or any other user attribute) from the list of conditions.
- Choose is any of or is not any of.
- Type the attribute values that should match. They are compared without regard to letter case.
Choose who can bypass Arrival/Departure rules via the API
Integrations and migration scripts that move cards in bulk no longer force you to choose between all or nothing. The setting Allow bypassing arrival and departure rules via API header in Administration › Security & Audit now lets you choose who may skip the rules with the ignore-arrival-departure-rules header: Everyone, Owners, Specific users or Users having specific roles. Limit the bypass to your integration user, and the rules stay enforced for everyone else.
- Switch the setting on to let API requests with the ignore-arrival-departure-rules header skip the boards' arrival and departure rules.
- Choose who may use the bypass: Everyone, Owners, Specific users or Users having specific roles.
- Pick the users, for example your integration user. The rules stay enforced for everyone else.
A clearer email when your card import finishes
Running several imports in a row? You will always know which one just finished. The email you receive after an Excel card import now names the imported file in the subject and shows a clear report: the overall result, counters for created, updated, warning and failed cards, and a table with a link to every card and its board, plus a separate list of any warnings and failures by row.
- The subject and the header name the imported file and the overall result.
- Counters show at a glance how many cards were created and placed, updated, or ended with a warning or a failure.
- Import details lists every Excel row with a link to its card and board, and its status.
- The Warnings and Failed panels explain what went wrong, row by row.
