1. New Dashboard Design
The focus of this release was improving the design of the dashboard pages. It’s a part of a major initiative to polish the UI/UX of the application. Here’s how the new dashboard design looks:
Apart from the visual enhancements, you will notice two new icons. From now on, the Management and Team Workspaces will have their dedicated icons, replacing the green/blue bars we had before.
With the new design, we also decided to remove the ability to set a background on the “Home” dashboard. This function remains available on the custom dashboards.
2. Visualization Improvements in the Business Rules
To improve the business rules' ease of use, we changed the visualization to a table format having four columns:
- “ID”
- “Name”
- “Author”
- “Board name”
It’s important to mention that if one rule is applied to multiple boards, then all of their names will appear under the “Board name” column.
Moreover, the other visual improvements and reorganizations that you will notice are:
- The function to enable/disable a business rule moves to the left-hand side and transforms into a slider instead of a checkbox.
- Next to the filter at the top, you will find a new functionality to display all/enabled/disabled business rules.
- The copy/edit/delete function will be accessible from the three dots on the right-hand side of the panel.
3. New Admin Privilege
Kanbanize 8.7 comes with a new “Manage Teams” admin privilege too.
So far, managing teams in Kanbanize used to require an Account Owner privilege. From now on, you can use the “Manage Teams” privilege to permit specific users to create, delete, and modify teams as well as manage teams’ members and particular boards.
It’s important to note that users having the new privilege can only assign teams to boards within the workspaces that they manage!
For more information on the admin privileges, check out our dedicated article.
4. “To-Do” List in the Card Editor
We also give you a new addition to the description of a card. There, you will notice the ability to add a “to-do” list which comes in handy when you want to create a simple checklist. You can use this feature instead of the subtasks when you don’t need an explicit owner or status tracking.
5. Other Improvements
Apart from everything above, we are introducing a few other useful improvements to the platform. Let’s summarize them below.
- Enhanced Full View Of Rich Text Widget
First of all, there is a visual enhancement in the rich text widget. Once you access its full view, the widget will widen in order to display all information, so you won’t have to use scrollbars within it. This is useful when you have a lot of content there and you want to visualize more information in a single view.
- Groups of Fields in Board Filter
We’ve reorganized the board filter into two groups of fields - the regular card fields and then the custom fields. The custom fields will be displayed in the order configured on the board level.
- Show Color of Custom Fields in Card View
If you have configured colors for your custom fields, they will now be visible directly inside your cards too.
- Default Board Filter For Custom Fields
So far, no matter where in the software you performed a search, when configuring the results you get, the system always displayed the custom fields from all boards. We’ve now improved this behavior in a way that if you open a search from within a given board, you will automatically get the custom fields only for that specific board.
Note: In case you load the search from a dashboard, you will still see the custom fields for all boards in your account.
- Links Tooltip Improvement
This is a very minor thing, but we decided to share it here, just in case someone finds it odd that the tooltips are not showing up as before. From now on, the system will display them only when you hover over the link icon on a card as opposed to the text of the linked card too. This saves you the distraction of having tooltips pop over as the mouse cursor moves across the board.
Happy Kanbanizing with version 8.7!
