1. Reimagined Card’s Context Menu Design
In our previous release, we presented Kanbanize’s new UI facelift. As part of the software’s visual improvements, we’re now introducing a new design for our card’s context menu.
Here’s the new look in a closed card view:
As well as inside the card’s details:
Apart from the more polished appearance, you will notice a better structure of the menu and several changes to its icons. To better explain all the improvements, let’s group the context menu’s elements (in a closed card view) into the following categories:
- Card details - Here, you will find all the icons that define a card’s details. That includes type, owner, deadline, priority, color, custom fields, etc.
- Card links- This area is reserved for everything related to managing card links. Note that from now on, “Link to existing” will have its own separate spot in this part of the context menu.
- Card tabs - Here are the options to quickly access the Comments and Subtasks tabs of a card.
- Card actions - This category contains all the actions that you can perform on a card such as block, discard, add stickers, etc. Note that the “Clone” action replaces “Simple copy” and is now a separate option on the menu. Furthermore, “Reminder” replaces “Follow up” from the old design.
- Copy properties - In this area of the menu, we’re introducing a new “Copy ID” option. Other than that, keep in mind that “Copy link” replaces “Permalink”.
2. “Lock Allowed Values” in Dropdown Custom Fields
Previously, there was no way to lock the allowed values in custom fields of type “dropdown” independently from other properties. This was causing issues if you wanted to keep the same dropdown values globally while still allowing local changes (per board) to the “Advanced Settings” on the custom field.
That’s why the dropdown fields will now have a new global option: “Lock allowed values”.
Whenever you turn it on, the system will not allow you to change the values on the dropdown field per board. However, users with the relevant permissions can still modify other settings on the field (per board), such as set min/max value, define whether it should always be present, etc.
3. New Operators for Number & Date Properties
To enable you to extract more precise data for your analysis, reports, etc., we’re releasing several new operators for numeric and date fields.
Let’s explain them below.
3.1 Operators for Numeric Properties
First, for all fields across your account that define a numeric value (ex. “Block Count”, “Block Time”, Cycle Time, Size, etc.), you can now use the following operators:
- “No greater than” - filters results that are not above a specific threshold
- “No less than” - filers results that are not below a specific value
- “Is between” - specifies whether the numeric value should be between 2 parameters
3.2 Operators for Date Properties
Second, for all fields across your account that define a date value (ex. Start Date, End Date, Deadline, etc.), we’re releasing the following operators:
- “In last X days” - Applies to all date fields. Using it helps you create rolling timeframes of what has been delivered in a specific period without having to manually change dates.
- “In next X days” - Here, the concept is the same with the difference that it only applies to date fields that have a correlation with the future (ex. Planned End Date, Planned Start Date, etc.)
Note: The operators for numeric and date properties also apply to custom fields respectively from type “Number” and “Date”.
4. See Board Names in Card Elements
To facilitate your work with card elements (stickers, blockers, templates, etc.), you can now see the board names next to each one of them in the “Cards management” menu of the Administration panel. This also allows you to filter by “board name”, so you can easily locate elements that reside on specific boards.
Keep in mind that when an element is added to more than 5 boards, the rest will be displayed with the respective number and a “+” sign.
5. Access Global from Local Board Management in Card Elements
To save you time, we’re also giving you the option to quickly switch to a global level when managing card elements on a local (board) level. You can do this from the “Switch to global” link, which appears in the notification at the top of a card element’s board details.
This option applies to the elements which have board settings such as stickers, types, and custom fields.
6. Other Improvements
- Co-owners property in Advanced Search
From now on, you will be able to filter your search results based on a new “Co-owners” property, so you can further refine your data.
- “Last comment” field in mail notifications
Moving forward, we’re giving you the option to use the “Last comment” property when setting up mail notifications from the Business rules where that’s applicable.
- Edit multiple users in Board members
For a quicker editing process, you can now modify the roles of multiple users at once inside the Board members area. Keep in mind that the roles of users who are account owners/workspace managers will not change.
- Assign users to teams in a batch
In our latest version, you can also assign users to multiple teams via the “Import Users from a File” tool in the “Invite Member” area of the “User Management” panel. The supported formats include .xls, .xlsx, and .csv while your spreadsheet should have the following structure:
- “Refresh all widgets” button
Lastly, to help you quickly update your widgets, we’ve added a new “Refresh all widgets” button in the settings menu of a dashboard. Note that you can only refresh the widgets on the dashboard which you’re currently viewing.
Happy Kanbanizing with version 9.2!
