1. Business Rules Improvements
The highlight of this release is the improvements in the business rules. Let’s go over each one of them below.
1.1. Disallow Triggering Business Rules Option
First of all, you will notice that some of the business rules contain a new “Disallow business rules actions to trigger this rule” toggle. When you turn it on, you will be able to prevent actions by other rules from triggering the current one. This is helpful in case 2 or more rules overlap without having a matching trigger action.
Note: The option is not available in the “Recurring” type business rules, including “Card is updated by email” and “Time-based” rules.
1.2. New “Co-Owners” Properties
To improve the flexibility of the business rules in the system, we’ve made it possible to use “Co-Owners” as a property in there too.
Here’s what you can achieve as a result.
1. Use Co-Owners as Predicate - First, you can now trigger business rules (where you need to specify a change) whenever a card’s co-owner(s) changes.
2. Use Co-Owners in Business Rules’ Filters - Second, you can filter a business rule to be executed whenever the “co-owners” field in a card “contains” or “doesn’t contain” a specific user.
3. Add/Remove Co-Owners - And third, we’re giving you new update actions to add or remove co-owners due to the execution of a given business rule.
1.3. “Last Moved” Property
Furthermore, we’re releasing a new “Last moved” property which is available in some of the business rules. Here’s where you can use it:
- In the triggering action (predicate) of the “Time-based rule”. With its help, you can trigger a specific action to occur whenever a card was last moved “X days ago or earlier”.
- In the business rules filters (where applicable). This is helpful when you have a case where a business rule should be executed under the condition that specific cards have been moved in a given time period.
- In the business rules’ custom notifications.
1.4. Stickers Are Available in Subquery Parameters
To further enhance your capabilities in the actions of the link is updated/moved rules, you can add “Stickers” as an additional subquery parameter to relative/parent/child cards filters.
1.5. Validation When Deleting Card Elements & Users
Moving forward, there will be a validation process across your business rules whenever you’re trying to delete a card element or a user. If that element/user is present in one of your rules, the system will show you the affected ones and prompt you to remove it from their configuration. The notification that pops up allows you to easily access your rules, so you can apply the necessary changes and ensure they continue to run smoothly whenever a given card element/user is no longer in your account.
2. Permanently Delete Discarded Cards & New Card Permission
From now on, once you’ve discarded a card and then you decide to refer back to it, you can choose a new “Permanent delete” option from its context menu. As a result, the card will permanently cease to exist on the board.
Keep in mind that while you can still view deleted cards in the “All activities” panel, you won’t be able to access their details.
Due to this update, we’re also releasing new card permission. Besides “Discard cards”, you can now create user roles with the permission to “Delete cards”, too.
3. Other Improvements
As usual, in our latest release, we have some more improvements and updates we want to share with you. Let’s take a look at them next.
- Import cards with Co-owners
To give you more flexibility, we’ve made the “co-owners” property available when importing/updating cards via an Excel spreadsheet.
Vice versa, when you’re exporting data from the Advanced Search that includes a card’s co-owners, the property will be present in your spreadsheet report.
- “Last Moved” is available in Advanced Search & Worklog Reports
The “Last moved” property, which we mentioned above, will also be available in the Advanced Search and the Worklog reports. You can use it when you wish to see data about all cards which were moved across boards (regardless of their position) in a specific period of time.
- New views for card links
To enhance the visualization of links in a closed card view, we’re releasing 2 new views for them in the “Card Settings” menu:
- One per row (outlined)
- One per row (filled)
Here’s how they will look on your boards:
- See the names of the currently selected teams/dashboards
Furthermore, to facilitate your work when editing team members or boards, you will now be able to see the name of the currently selected team.
The same improvement applies to the names of dashboards whenever you’re editing a given dashboard’s users/teams/workspaces.
- Context menu visual improvements
Lastly, to keep up with the product’s new UI, you will notice a few minor visual improvements in the following options of the card’s context menu:
- Deadline
- Tags
- Size
- Custom field
Regarding the custom field option, keep in mind that, unlike the previous behavior, the panel will remain open once you’ve added a specific field to the card.
Happy Kanbanizing with version 9.3!
