1. Milestones Improvements
To ensure our milestones answer your project management needs, we’ve prepared several improvements for you. We will summarize them below.
1.1. Manage Milestones from The Administration Panel
From now on, you will be able to create and manage milestones from the “Card Management” section in the “Administration Panel”.
There, you can create new milestones, apply them to different boards across your account, and manage their availability settings. Just like the other elements on your boards, milestones have the following availability settings:
- Global (the milestone will become present on all boards)
- Auto (the milestone will be automatically applied to all new boards)
- On-demand (workspace managers can add/remove the milestone to/from the boards they manage)
Following this improvement, it’s now possible to manage milestones on a board level too. From the new Board Milestones Management panel, you can see which milestones have been applied to the board, disable existing ones, or enable new ones.
To control who has permission to manage milestones, we’re releasing their own dedicated field in the “Security & Audit” section of the Administration panel. Just like any other card control, the options to select which users can manage milestones include:
- Account Owners/Admins
- Account Owners/Admins and Workspace Managers
- Everyone
1.2. Easily Associate Milestones with Cards/Initiatives
To make it easier for you to visualize which milestones are associated with work items, we’re making them available inside your card’s and initiative’s details.
For initiatives, you will see a new “Milestones” field directly under the “Timeline Fields”. Clicking it will open a list of the available milestones on the board, and you can toggle on/off those that you’d like to associate/disassociate with the given initiative.
Regarding cards, you will have to add “Milestones” as an additional Card field if you’d like to display them inside the card’s details. Once you do that, they will become available directly below the “Tags” or “Custom ID” fields if the latter is present.
1.3. Refine & Configure Search Data Based on Milestones
To help you extract proper data from your account, we’re adding the milestones as filtering/configuration criteria in the “Advanced Search”. From now on, you can refine your search results if a milestone contains/contains all/does not contain a given value.
1.4. Build Automation with Milestones
Lastly, milestones will now be available as triggers/filters/actions inside applicable business rules. One example out of many configurations is to automatically update cards when a milestone they’re associated with changes its value.
For business rules from the “linked card is updated” type, you will be able to copy the milestone’s details between the linked cards.

2. Take Your Work Visibility to the Next Level with the New Card & Initiative View Settings
In version 10.10 of Businessmap, we’re excited to announce the official release of our new Card & Initiative view settings, which we made available upon request in our last update.
This improvement ensures much higher flexibility in the way you visualize your work details on your boards.
The main highlights of the new configuration settings include:
- Configure cards/initiatives across 4 board view levels. To unlock complete customization of your work visualization, it’s now possible to switch between our 4 zoom levels and define how you’d like to see your work items on each one of them.
- Configure the view of BOTH your cards and initiatives. Unlike before, you can now switch between a card and an initiative view. This allows you to specifically configure how you’d like a card or an initiative to appear on your boards.
- Take advantage of new configuration options. From configuring your card size and initiative height to visualizing cover images on your initiatives (apart from just cards), we’re releasing several new additions to improve your work appearance across boards.
See our dedicated article for a detailed breakdown of the brand-new card and initiative view settings.
3. Extended “Edit Workflow” Permissions
To give you more flexibility than ever when creating custom roles, you can now specify exactly what actions a user can produce as part of the “Edit workflow” board permission.
To do this, every time you create/edit a role, you will notice that the “Edit workflow” board permission is clickable. Once you open it, you can choose what actions users with the permission can execute.
4. New Board Permission
As an addition to the last point, we’re also releasing a brand-new board permission - “Manage field formulas”. Users having the permission will be able to create dynamic card size and deadline properties on boards by modifying their calculation formulas.
5. Define Arrival/Departure Work Policies Based on Roles
To give you even more advanced flow governance across your processes, it’s now possible to use board roles as conditions for arrival and departure rules. For example, you can specify work items to enter or exit a given process area (board, workflow, lane, column, cell) if they’re moved by a user with a particular board role.
6. Other Improvements
As usual, that’s not all! We’ve got some smaller but equally valuable improvements for you. Let’s quickly go over them.
- More Granular Refinement/Configuration of Search Data
First, we’ve added several new search properties to the Advanced Search. To get more granular results, you will notice that you can use the following criteria:
- First Start Date – the first time a card went into “In Progress” (identical to Start Date)
- Last Start Date – the last time a card went into “In Progress”
- First End Date – the first time a card went into “Done”
- Last End Date – the last time a card went into “Done” (identical to End Date)
- Actual Start Date – filters results based on the actual start date of initiatives
- Actual End Date – filters results based on the actual end date of initiatives
- Include Arrival/Departure Rules When Cloning Boards/Workspaces
Second, you can now copy the Arrival/Departure Rules on a board(s) when cloning the board or an entire workspace.
- “Comments” & “Links” Section in Widget Export
Finally, to unify your experience when using the export function within the system, every export of widget data, consisting of “comments” and “links”, will generate a separate “Excel” tab for both columns.
That’s all we’ve got for you in version 10.10 of Businessmap. If you need any help, don’t hesitate to contact us.
