Users can select multiple cards and set/update/remove custom fields for all of them simultaneously. This improvement reduces the manual efforts and time spent on custom field management. You can do this from the Card Context menu.
1. How to Add Custom Fields to Multiple Cards from the Card Context Menu?
Step 1: Use the mouse to draw a rectangle box to select multiple cards at once.
Step 2: Right-click or just click to open the card Context menu and select Custom Fields.
The system displays a list of all custom fields that have been added to the current board.
Step 3: Select the field you want to apply to the selected cards and enter a value.
Note: If you are an Account Owner or a Workspace Manager, you can use the Manage Board Custom Fields icon at the top right side of the panel to manage custom fields at a board level. Note that regular users do not see this link.
2. Where Do Custom Fields Become Available on Cards?
The field you select becomes available under the Custom Fields section of cards.
Note: You can customize how custom fields are displayed in the closed view of cards and initiatives from the Configure views icon in the board sidebar. You can learn more about the available view settings here.
If you choose to display custom fields as a Row in the closed view, you will have easy access to quickly update or remove them without opening the card. Just click the respective field to update it.
3. How to Edit/Remove Custom Fields in Bulk?
3.1. From the Board
To edit or remove custom fields in bulk from the board, select the cards you want to update and open the Context menu to access the custom fields panel (click the custom field icon). Select the custom field you want to update or remove and save your changes when you are ready. This will instantly update all selected cards.
Alternatively, if the custom field has already been added to all cards you want to update, just select the cards and click the field.
3.2. From the Advanced Search
Another way to update custom fields in bulk is through the Advanced search. Filter your search results and select the custom field from the Configure views menu. Hold Ctrl and click the custom field box for each card you want to update. Then, click one of the selected fields to update the value or remove the field. The change will be applied to all selected cards.
