1. Introduction to the Reporting Tool
The Reporting tool helps you generate reports on a global account level. There are six types of reports you can create:
- "Worklog entries" report
- "Worklog per item" report
- "Cycle time per column" report
- "Initiatives and Outcomes" report
- "Blockers" report
- "Throughput" report
The results you get are available for export in CSV format. Each exported file matches the original one as displayed in the reporting tool.
Important: Users can generate reports only for cards on boards where their role allows them to view Card details. If a user's role has no permissions, they won't be able to generate reports. Account Owners can pull information for cards from all boards.
To run a report and access the Reporting tool, click the Reports icon in the upper right corner of your Businessmap interface (next to Administration).
2. How to Save a Report?
Start by generating the report you need.
Then, click the “Save” button in the lower left corner. This will open a separate window where you can configure the following elements:
- Name (1) — give a name to your report (this field is mandatory).
- Description (2) — add a description to the report if relevant.
If you don’t want to share this report with anyone, you can stop here.
- But if you want to share this report with other people or use these reports with Power BI, you will have to check the “Share this report as public” (3) option.
- Password (4) — you can protect the public report with a password. Password is entered upon creation and can be changed only by the report's author. This is not a mandatory field.
- Once you save your report, you will be able to access the Public Link (5) which you can use to share the report as well as the Power BI query (6).
3. How to Load a Report?
To load a report, click the “Load” button in the lower left corner. This will open a list of all saved reports. Clicking on a saved report will open it in the search. You can then modify it and save the updated report if necessary.
4. The Pivot Reporting View
When you open the Reporting tool and run a report, the results will be generated in the default pivot view:
The pivot view is only available in the Reporting tool. To learn more about how you can visualize your reports with the Pivot view, please refer to The Pivot View in the Reporting Tool.
5. Limitations
Note that there is a 10k result limit in the Businessmap UI for all reports and a 50k result limit when exporting or using them in PowerBI.
