Depending on your workflow, tracking time can be valuable for billing purposes, future estimates, and planning. In Businessmap, you can record and track the exact time spent working on a task or subtask by manually logging time against the specific item.
1. How to Log Time in Businessmap
To log working hours against a card/subtask, right-click on the card itself to open the context menu or click the Settings menu on an open card, and select “Log time.” You can log time against the card or any of its subtasks as many times as needed based on your work item. Note: Users with the necessary permissions can also create worklog categories to help you systemize you and your team's time logs. Learn more about worklog categories.
2. Tracking Work Hours in Businessmap
2.1. The Card Metrics Tab
All times logged for a card are accumulated under the corresponding column in the Metrics tab. In this tab, you can choose to include logged time for subtasks (checked by default) and logged time for child cards.
2.2. The Advanced Search Tool
With the Advanced search, you can filter cards based on the logged time per board, user, etc.
In the short video below, you can see an example search scenario for cards with logged time. You can refine and configure your search to fit your particular use case. For example, you can filter cards by Type, and the system will generate a report for cards of this type with logged time.
2.3. The Worklog Reports
To generate Log time reports on a global level, you can use the Worklog reports available in the Reporting tool (the upper right corner of your Businessmap interface).
The Worklog report tool can generate a report with the time logged for each user for each work item, for a given period of time. Moreover, the tool allows you to get data for a selected workspace/board/columns and lanes. On top of that, you can also export all the data from the report in a CSV format. There are two worklog reports — Worklog by item and Worklog entries. Learn more in our Worklog reports guide.
